TE WANANGA O RAUKAWA

For all Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa students, the completion of their tohu (qualification), ensures they know themselves better as Māori – “Te kākano i ruia mai i Rangiātea”.

Studying at Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa gives you the opportunity to enhance your understanding of your whānau, hapū and iwi. For some, your research and writing at the Wānanga will mean your first experience of your rōpū tuku iho. In either case, if you are extending your knowledge of your whānau, hapū and iwi or for a new entrant to these groups, your journey can be rewarding beyond your expectation. Haere mai.

Students emerge from Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa with enhanced knowledge of themselves and the complementary skills to contribute to the world as Māori. To accomplish this, Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa has become distinctive and innovative and our programmes reflect this in their content and delivery. It is the distinct and innovative nature of our kaupapa and tikanga, which justifies the continuing existence of this Wānanga. Haere mai.

Intellectual stimulation through the exchange of ideas, the sharing of manaakitanga and the pursuit of whakawhanaungatanga are fundamental to life at Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa. We hope that every student entering the front gate will learn the meaning of this. Those who are associated with the teaching, research and administration of Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa are committed to helping every student to achieve this understanding.
